Sorry guys, I have been infernally busy since college started and what with Beowulf and John Donne and all that stuff. Haven’t had a moment’s time to write the story. But now that the routine is settling, I’ll have more leisure for HTSAS!
Oh and, as a special treat and apology, some more ‘parallel-storyline’ chapters people have been asking for.

Writing this chapter was very exciting. I had a lot of freedom since I didn’t have to be constrained writing in Rigel’s voice and vocabulary. More than that, this chapter marks all that I have learnt till now since I started writing. Here is to hoping you all have as much fun reading this as I had writing it. Continue Reading

Please read the Author’s Note at the end of the chapter. Really important post, and really needs your input.
Edited by the wondrous, amazing and talented Luuuuci-
chaaaan! She has an awesome fiction too, pretty dark and complex like HTSAS. Continue Reading
Don’t click the spoiler if you don’t want yourself spoiled about the psych theories used in this chapter.
As some have already guessed, Rigel’s mind links correspond to Freudian theories about the level of mind, the Id, the Ego and Superego. Continue Reading
Chapter 16: Surviving Serpents
“…Ever seeth a sane hero, my boy? They exist doth not. The gifts of the gods subverteth their minds. The favours granteth be a double-edged sword, oh they doth beest. No hero, whether in their blood-thirst or brutal sense of justice remaineth sane. Therefore, my lad, doth not become a hero at any cost. If ye are ever chosen by the gods, kill thineself. For there is never a crueller fate than beeth a chosen.”
— Alihernecht to his son, The Last Hero, by the first female playwright, Picalterssa Firehands.
Well, this isn’t a chapter, but something important. I haven’t been able to post a chapter the last week and the reason for that is…EXAMS!! Don’t worry, I will get back to the story in a few days. As for another matter, I feel like I need to explain something. I repeat, don’t worry, just let me slay the exam demons. Continue Reading

The first psychological chapter is here. For all the psychology enthusiasts out there, here is the list of all the psychological phenomenon and theories that come to play in this chapter.
- Freud’s theories on interpretation of dreams.
- Freud’s psycho-sexual theories.
- Kübler-Ross Model of grief.
Honestly, I am worried about how you guys will treat this chapter. All I can do is sort of urge you not to judge Rigel or Faeve too harshly, for they are suffering.
I couldn’t have completed this chapter without the extremely valuable inputs from Luciferia and her editing proskillz. Also, valuable inputs by ResonantIce and Monsoon117 helped a lot to.
